Huge field at final Car Care Clinic 111 Sports & Saloons round

A massive field of cars will take to the 2.4km Zwartkops Raceway for the final round of the 2018 Car Care Clinic 111 Sports & Saloons championship on Saturday, 10 November. The top four at the top of the overall standings are separated by just five points. George Bezuidenhout (Accolade / CES Forklift Nissan Primera) leads the way, four points ahead of Craig Botha (Moto West Car Sales VW Golf) with Danie Deysel (Solly’s Tyres & Mags Honda Civic) and Almero van Eck (Taurus VW Polo) tied for third just a single point further back.

If things carry on like they have for most of this year, the battle at the head of the class A field is likely to be between Bezuidenhout and Wouter Roos (Nathan’s Motorsport VW Golf) although Gerhard Henning (www.allmotospares.co.za VW Polo) beat both of them last time they competed together. Veritie-Anne Joubert (Honda Spares Honda Ballade) and Paul Saayman (Intercity Auto Movers VW Caddy) are separated by just a point in the battle for third in class A and will be fighting for the upper hand. Louis Cloete (SV Tech VW Beetle) and Harry Arangies (Stradale Motorsport Nissan 350Z) could also be in the mix.

Deysel has the class B championship in the bag but will want to continue his winning ways. His competition is likely to come from Louis Scholtz (Car Care Clinic Honda Ballade), Mark Harvey (Adapt Design & Sign Porsche 924) and Mark Ellis (Porsche 924). Adrian Dalton (Xtra Clothing & Shoes VW Golf) Wayne Lebotschy (Shield VW GTi) could also mount a serious challenge.

Almero van Eck (Monster VW Polo) is likely to claim the Class C crown at Zwartkops although Phillip Meyer (LSC Group Porsche 924) does have a mathematical chance of denying him. Their competition is likely to come from Reno van Heerden (Monster VW Polo) and Gawie Marais (Titan Products VW Polo).

Class D champion Botha will face competition from Ishmael Baloyi (Trans Africa Racing Honda Civic) and Linda Henning (www.allmotospares.co.za VW Golf). Mark Gregory and Marius Lotz will battle for class E in their VW Golfs.

Qualifying gets underway at 09h40 on Saturday morning with the first of the two 8-lap races on the card at 13h10. Race 2 is scheduled to start at 16h10.
