🏁 Race Report – Zwartkops Raceway Grand Finale
111 GT Sports & Saloons • 8 November 2025
The final round of the Regional Extreme Festival wrapped up the 2025 season in spectacular fashion. With many familiar names returning and plenty of new faces joining the grid, entries were overflowing—resulting in the SuperHatch class being split from the 111s for this round.
A major talking point was the last-minute entry of UFC legend Dricus du Plessis, who made his racing debut in the First-Time Driver Class X, immediately drawing plenty of attention both on and off the track.
Qualifying
Qualifying was fiercely contested across all categories:
- GT: Dylan Pragji (Styling Auto VW Polo 6R)
- Class A: Lindsay Clur (Nathans Motorsport VW Polo)
- Class B: Wayne Lebotschy (Shield VW Golf)
- Class C: Keegan Nathan (Nathans Motorsport VW Polo)
- Class X: Quentin Duvhage (2D Trucks VW Golf Mk1)
All pole sitters received a Digit FMS Pole Position Award.
Francois Henning (VW Polo) stunned with exceptional pace in Class A but unfortunately exceeded the class time limit, dropping him to 6th after penalties. Wessel Mostert (Mosco Specialised Contractors BMW E46 M3) was also impressive, earning promotion to Class A.
Race 1
The race got underway cleanly, and action erupted immediately.
GT Class
Dylan Pragji and Jared Rossouw (O M G Gifts & Gagets & Trend VW Polo) delivered a race-long thriller, running nose-to-tail in their VW Polos. Pragji held firm for the win, with Rossouw close behind. Mark du Toit (Trans Africa Racing BMW Z4) secured 3rd while fending off constant pressure from George Economides (Wealth Avenue VW Golf Turbo).
Class X
Series newcomer Quentin Duvehage led the way in his Mk1 Golf, ahead of Dricus du Plessis (959 Panelbeaters VW Golf Mk1), who was rapidly getting to grips with his own Mk1. Arthur Thorn (VW Polo) completed the podium in 3rd.
Class A
Wayne Robb (Ford Focus ST 225) made an early pass on Lindsay Clur and controlled the race from the front. Clur came home 2nd, with Francois Henning recovering well to take 3rd.
Class B & C
Class B delivered one of the day’s standout battles. Mike O’Sullivan (All Thing Motoring International Honda Ballade) initially got ahead of championship rival Wayne Lebotschy, but Wayne fought back to claim the victory, critical with both drivers tied on points coming into the round. O’Sullivan secured 2nd, with Melanie Spurr (Origin Oil VW Polo) in 3rd.
Spurr was simultaneously involved in a tight Class C battle just ahead of Chris Tait (Sportex VW Polo) and Keegan Nathan. In a nail-biting scrap, Nathan edged out Tait at the line to strengthen his title hopes. Rob Clark (Containerforce Self Storage Honda Ballade) completed the Class C podium.
Race 2
GT Class
Race 2 again saw Pragji and Rossouw locked in an intense fight. An early Safety Car—triggered by Wessel Mostert’s stricken BMW—bunched up the field but also unfortunately ended George Economides’ race with clutch failure. Jonathan Visser also retired with a damaged 3rd gear.
On the restart, Mark du Toit joined the fight at the front. On the final lap, du Toit applied heavy pressure into Turn 2, causing Jared to lock up and run off track—promoting du Toit to 2nd and Marius Truter into 3rd.
GT Championship Results:
- Champion: Wouter Roos (Origin Oil VW Golf 7)
- Runner-up: Jonathan Visser (Auto Express Car Service VW Polo 6R)
- 3rd: Jared Roussouw (after a strong late-season charge)
Class A
Wayne Robb once again controlled the race from the front. This time, Francois Henning managed to get ahead of Lindsay Clur, but both remained close throughout.
Championship Results:
- Champion (and 111 Overall Champion): Wayne Robb
- Runner-up: Piet Potgieter (Ding Ding Ding / Nathans Motorsport VW Golf 7)
- 3rd: Lindsay Clur
Class X
Mechanical issues struck early, with Duvehage’s Golf retiring due to a broken 3rd gear. This handed the lead to Dricus du Plessis, who delivered a storming drive—chasing down Class B stalwarts O’Sullivan and Lebotchy and missing out on beating Wayne by the narrowest of margins.
Arthur Thorn finished 2nd, followed by Jacques van der Walt in 3rd.
Class B
Wayne Lebotschy once again claimed the win over Mike O’Sullivan, securing the 2025 Class B Championship.
Melanie Spurr took 3rd on the road.
Championship Results:
- Champion: Wayne Lebotschy
- Runner-up: Mike O’Sullivan
- 3rd: Louis Scholtz (Car Care Clinic Honda)
Class C
Keegan Nathan Jnr opened a strong lead early and maintained it to the finish, ahead of Chris Tait and Rob Clark.
Championship Results:
- Champion: Keegan Nathan
- Runner-up: Chris Tait
- 3rd: Rob Clark
Sandbagger Award
Dylan Pragji received the Sandbagging Special Award for the day — well deserved and taken in great spirit!
We also bid farewell to a familiar face at Zwartkops Raceway — the man behind the chequered flag for so many years, Hennie “The Flag” De Beer.
Hennie, thank you for your unwavering dedication, tireless effort, and ever-positive spirit. You’ve been an integral part of our family, and you always will be.
Closing the Season
As the sun sets on the 2025 season, we look back with pride and gratitude at a year filled with incredible racing and unforgettable moments.
